Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has said that his club is interested in signing Manchester United and England midfielder David Beckham.
However, the Italian giants would only table a bid if United were to drop their asking price, Gazzetta dello Sportreported today.
Moratti said he had followed with interest an apparent breakdown in relations between Beckham and United manager Alex Ferguson.
He said: "As a football fan yes I am interested: it is an appetising project, who would not want to buy such a great player.

"But as a director of a club I can say that no club can afford such an outlay of cash. His market value prohibits such a deal. For practical reasons, therefore, I think the deal is an impossible one."
