A 28-year-old Cork city man died from haemorrhage and shock after being stabbed in the groin, an inquest was told in Cork yesterday.

Mr Noel McCarthy, from Spriggs Road, Gurranabraher, in Cork city, died on May 4th last at the Mercy Hospital, Cork City Coroner Dr Myra Cullinane was told.

Dr Cullinane extended sympathy to Mr McCarthy's mother, Mary, before adjourning the inquest as gardai have initiated criminal proceedings following the death.
