Injured boy transferred to Beaumont

An 11-year-old boy in Co Louth who was shot in the head yesterday has been transferred to Beaumont Hospital.

An 11-year-old boy in Co Louth who was shot in the head yesterday has been transferred to Beaumont Hospital.

His condition is described as critical but stable.

The shooting of the boy is being described as accidental. It is understood the boy was struck by a pellet from a .22 air rifle.

The boy was taken to hospital by ambulance after the incident which happened in the garden of a house in the Mount St Oliver area in the town at about 6.15pm.

He was transferred to Beaumont overnight.
