The annual rate of inflation fell to 2.6 per cent in November from 3 per cent in October due to lower fuel prices, according to the latest consumer price index.

Transport costs fell, with lower prices for petrol and diesel, while other goods and services prices fell with lower motor insurance premia, the Central Statistics Office said.

The EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, which allows a comparison of Irish inflation with other EU states, fell from 2.7 per cent in October to 2.2 per cent in November.
