At least 37 people have been killed after torrential rains caused flash flooding on Indonesia's Sumatra island, a government official said.
Of that total so far 32 are Indonesian and five are foreigners," he reported.
The rains, which began on Sunday night, caused flooding near the North Sumatra capital of Medan northwest of Jakarta. There was no immediate word on the nationalities of the foreigners.
The spokesman said the flooding hit the area of Bahorok, popular with tourists, early on Monday. Indonesia's rainy season usually starts in November and lasts until April.
