New Delhi - India has begun developing a new version of its current medium-range ballistic missile, the Defence Minister, Mr George Fernandes, announced yesterday.

Mr Fernandes was quoted by the Press Trust of India as saying the new version would have a longer range than the existing "Agni" (Fire) intermediate-range missile, which can carry a one-tonne nuclear warhead.
