Irish Locomotive Drivers Association (ILDA) members today obtained negotiating rights after they voted to affiliate with the Amalgamated Transport and General Workers Union (ATGWU).

It is believed that 90 per cent of ILDA members voted in favour of the move in a secret postal ballot held last weekend.

The ATGWU general secretary Mr Mick O'Reilly, said that ILDA members would now join as a branch and would receive the services of an officer.

They will join the more than 70 Iarnród Éireann workers currently represented by the ATGWU.
