Johannesburg - The ashes of the British anti-apartheid campaigner, Archbishop Trevor Huddleston, arrived yesterday in South Africa where they will be buried near his old church in Johannesburg.

Deputy President Thabo Mbeki and other senior dignitaries were at the airport to meet the flight from London carrying the Foreign Minister, Mr Alfred Nzo, with a small wooden casket of Huddleston's remains, draped in the South African flag.

Mr Nzo received the ashes of Archbishop Huddleston, who died in April in Mirfield in England at the age of 84, at a thanksgiving service in London on Wednesday.
