Hostage drama raises suspicions

Moscow - Gunmen surrendered to police yesterday after a day-long hostage drama in a Black Sea resort, but officials said the incident may have been staged. Mr German Ugryumov, deputy head of Russia's FSB domestic security police, said the operation to free an unspecified number of hostages in a small hotel had been a success. However, the First Deputy Interior Minister, Mr Vladimir Kozlov, said police suspected the captors and their victims may have been partners in crime.
