A 64 year old riding instructor set off yesterday on a horseback trek from Malin Head, Co Donegal, to Mizen Head, Co Cork, to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society. Ms Sally Everitt, from Finea, Co Westmeath, aims to complete the 505 mile journey in three weeks.

Ms Everitt, whose father and husband died from cancer, hopes to raise more than £30,000 for cancer research. Local riding schools and hotels will provide accommodation for her and her two horses, Casino and Sonic Chaos.
