Irish journalist Orla Guerin was awarded an honorary doctorate for services to broadcasting at a graduation ceremony at Queen’s University, Belfast, yesterday.
The Dublin-born reporter, who is the BBC’s new Pakistan correspondent, has spent the past 20 years as a foreign correspondent, first with RTÉ and then with the BBC, working in areas such as the Middle East, the Soviet Union, Africa and the Balkans.
