Ipswich had reluctantly accepted an offer from the Premiership club last week as a means to ease the financial struggle they face in adapting to life in the Nationwide League.

But Holland could not agree personal terms with Villa and insisted there was now "no decision to make" about his future.

Holland told the club's website, www.itfc.co.uk: "Everyone knows how happy I am at the club and as far as I'm concerned that is the end of the matter unless circumstances change.

"I am looking forward to playing against Millwall and Bradford over the next few days and continuing our bid to go straight back up to the Premiership."

Villa insist they have not given up on the move but admit Holland's desire to remain with his family in Suffolk is likely to scupper the projected move.

Deputy chief executive Mark Ansell told www.avfc.co.uk: "We will be talking again with his agent but at this stage Matt's considerations are based around personal issues outside of football rather than financial matters".
