The trial of a Co Cork father and son, who are accused of attempting to defraud the Department of Agriculture of £75,000 in herd population compensation, continued yesterday with an explanation of the origins of BSE to the jury.
Mr Andrew and Mr Bryan Wilson of Bandon and Dunmanway, Co Cork, deny purchasing a BSE-infected animal and placing it in the herd of a farmer, James Sutton, at Kilgariffe, Co Cork, in 1996. The case continues on Monday.
