How to come safely down the mountain
Do: Wear sturdy boots with good ankle support.
Carry a light rucksack with waterproofs, additional warm clothing, and an energy-giving food such as chocolate.
Remember that the temperature drops 2-3 degrees Centigrade for each 300m/1,000ft you climb.
Don't:
Walk in remote areas unless you carry a compass and map and know how to use them effectively.
Go out onto the hills without letting someone know your intended route and the time you are due back.
Set out without planning your walk carefully and checking the weather forecasts.
Attempt what is beyond your capacity and then rely on others for rescue.
