Six hijackers took over a Cuban DC-3 airliner carrying 35 people but US military jets intercepted it and forced it to land in Key West, Florida, an FBI spokeswoman said this morning.
The Cubana de Aviacion plane was intercepted as it headed toward the United States, a Federal Aviation Authority official said earlier.
Cuban aviation officials also confirmed they had reported the plane hijacked.
