US company Waters Corporation today announced an €11.5 million expansion plan for its Wexford operation that will create 125 new jobs.
The company is one of the world's leading suppliers of high performance liquid chromatography analytical instruments.
The instruments are used by scientists in laboratory conditions to identify and analyse the components of a variety of chemicals and other materials.
The company said the expansion will create 125 jobs over five years in areas such as supply chain management, quality assurance, technical support and manufacturing.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Micheál Martin said the expansion will have an important impact on the local and national economy through the new employment and through the company's intention to increase its supply chain from Irish vendors and indigenous companies.
Waters Corporation's Wexford operation - established in 1997 - is the company's European manufacturing centre and employs 150 people.
