Coach Roger Lemerre has played down reports that Thierry Henry is to withdraw from France's World Cup squad.

"Some news has come back to me saying that Henry is going to pull out of the World Cup. I've never made such a statement," Lemerre said at a news conference today.

"Henry is nursing an old and recurrent knee injury but it's not serious. We wanted to have him on the pitch for the [training] match yesterday and it turned out it was impossible. So it has triggered some concern.

"But his injury is not serious at all and we are considering putting him in against South Korea on Sunday," Lemerre said.

The striker missed the 2-1 defeat to Belgium at the Stade de France last weekend.
