Woman (80s) dies following two car collision in Co Waterford

Three other people treated for non-life threatening injuries after crash in Tramore

A woman in her 80s has died following a two car collision in Co Waterford on Tuesday afternoon.

Three other people travelling in the vehicles were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The crash occurred on the on the R682 between Tramore and Tramore Cross at about 4pm.

Emergency services were called to the scene there they found four people, two in each car, in need of medical attention. They were taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford where the woman, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead a short time later.

The road at the crash site remained closed on Tuesday night as garda forensic collision investigators examined the scene. Traffic diversions were put in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly any road users travelling in the area at the time who may have dash-cam footage.
