1. Don't panic buy because you've forgotten someone. Be inventive, copy a CD, bake a dish, give them a book from your shelf you know they will enjoy
2. Delay buying gifts for people you won't see till after Christmas day, as on December 26, many items are reduced in price.
3. Ask for help in advance if you're the one expected to produce Christmas for everyone.
4. Make up some fresh fruit or herbal non-alcoholic drinks and present them attractively during Christmas Day to help pace the alcohol intake.
5. Burn essential oils to provide feelings of balance. Geranium, orange, cinnamon and pine are good choices, and a drop of eucalyptus helps towards a bacteria-free environment. Keep topped up with water.
6. Get out into the air as a family, with friends or on your own over the holiday. Go to the beach, the woods, and look at nature
7. Put current grievances aside for the season and make a conscious effort to be kind and pleasant. This means taking yourself out of centre stage and thinking of others.
