Man (18) taken to hospital after being hit by Luas

Incident occurred just after 8pm near the City West campus

An 18-year-old man has been taken to Tallaght hospital after being struck by a Luas tram near the City West campus in Dublin.

The incident occurred just after 8pm although the extent of his injuries are unknown.

It is understood he was crossing the tracks at the time of the accident which resulted in a slight disruption to some services.

A spokeswoman for Veolia, the company that runs the Luas, said that a replacement bus service is now in operation on a portion of line between Belgard and Saggart. The main Point Depot to Tallaght line remains in service.
