The director general of the Health and Safety Authority, Mr Tom Walsh, is to retire on August 31st. Announcing the retirement yesterday, Mr Tom Kitt, the Minister of State for Labour, Trade and Consumer Affairs, said: "Tom Walsh has given 42 years of invaluable hard work, commitment and vision to the public service, including the past 12 years as the first director general of the HSA."
