The student charged with the murder of Strabane woman Ms Attracta Harron smiled when he appeared via a video link in Strabane Magistrates Court yesterday from Maghaberry Prison for a remand hearing.

Mr Trevor Hamilton, Concess Road, Sion Mills, is accused of murdering Ms Harron, a retired librarian, on December 11th last year, the day the mother-of-five was last seen alive, walking to her Strabane home after attending Mass in Lifford, Co Donegal. When he first appeared in court in Omagh charged with the offence on March 28th, the defendant was remanded in custody to appear before Strabane Magistrates Court yesterday. During yesterday's two-minute long video link hearing, the defendant smiled and replied "Yip" when asked to confirm his identity. He was remanded in custody until May 20th.
