Ireland's Padraig Harrington beat Ryder Cup team-mate Thomas Bjorn at the first hole of a sudden-death play-off in the Deutsche Bank-SAP Open in Hamburg today.
Bjorn, who had earlier fired a brilliant closing 63, bunkered his approach and failed to get up and down as heavy rain arrived at the Gut Kaden course.
Harrington, who on the same 18th green had made a 10-footer to force the play-off, two-putted from 35 feet for a win that earned him #&8364;322,474 and takes him top of the European Order of Merit. It also spared him from a 20th runners-up finish in his career.
They had finished on the 19-under-par total of 269, one ahead of South Africa's Retief Goosen, with Swede Niclas Fasth fourth and Justin Rose, Paul Casey and Graeme McDowell joint fifth.
Tiger Woods - first, third, first and first in the event the last four years - was only 29th after a closing 70.
