Guns found at national school

Gardaí in Dublin have recovered guns and ammunition during a search at a national school.

Three shotguns and a small quantity of ammunition were found at the school on Basin Lane, Dublin 8 today.

A Garda spokesman said the searches were carried out after reports of suspicious activity in the school grounds in the last number of days.

The guns, which were wrapped in plastic, were found by gardaí on the roof of the school at about 11.30am.

The area was immediately sealed off for a forensic technical examination before the guns were removed for further examination, the spokesman said.
