A gun found in a house earlier this month was used by the INLA to murder retired policeman Cyril Stewart just five days before, the High Court in Belfast heard yesterday. A Crown lawyer said the Luger pistol was found in the roofspace of the house at Woodbourne Crescent, Dungannon, Co Tyrone, where police also found a revolver, shotgun and ammunition.

Mr Stewart (52) from Ar magh, was shot dead in front of his wife on March 27th as they left a supermarket.

The details about the murder gun were revealed during a bail application by Mr Barry Paul Dinsmore (31) from Braeside, Dungannon. He is charged with possessing the guns with intent to endanger life, membership of the INLA and conspiracy to murder a member of the security forces.

Mr Dinsmore's lawyer said he did not live in the flat and had lent the key to a man he knew might have some connection with the INLA, "but he is not a member and has no truck with the organisation."
