Do we ever tire of the exploits, or non exploits, of Greta Garbo and Cecil Beaton? Apparently not, for here's another book devoted to the subject, and pretty engrossing it is, too, for all its ultimate pointlessness. Souhami writes well, ponders her subjects wavering genders, identities and various crises in a fashion as elegant as one of Beaton's gorgeous photographs - some of which are reproduced here - and includes just enough salacious detail to keep the story ticking along nicely.
