Athens - A fire which whipped through the Greek coastal resort of Oropou, near Athens, on Monday was brought under control yesterday after having destroyed holiday homes, farms and vast tracts of forest, an official said.
No one was hurt in the blaze, which started in the border town of Sikaminos and rapidly spread to Oropou, 60km from Athens, fuelled by strong winds.
