A TURKISH man miraculously survived being crushed to death when a train slammed into an articulated lorry and propelled it towards the spot where he was standing.
Cem Tocak suffered only minor injuries in the incident in the Mediterranean port city of Mersin on February 25th.
Dramatic CCTV images show the lorry crossing train tracks seconds before a goods train
rams into it. Propelled sideways, the lorry sweeps over Mr Tokac, who was standing beside the tracks, and he disappears from view.
The footage shows Mr Tokac after the accident, lying motionless on the ground. Remarkably, he and the truck driver suffered only minor injuries.
“I can’t remember anything about the accident,” Mr Tokac says.
“I thought I was asleep. But when I woke up, I was not in my bed. I was on the ground.”
The 32-year-old, who plans to marry in April, says February 25th is his new birthday, as he celebrated at home with his mother and fiancee.
“Life is really beautiful,” he says. – (AP)
