RACING:This afternoon's race meeting at Gowran, featuring the Ellen Construction Thyestes Handicap Chase, passed a 7.30am inspection while tomorrow's Fairyhouse meeting remains doubtful.

"The ground is heavy, but raceable,” said Cliff Noone from Irish Turf Club in reference to the Gowran meeting.

"They have had some overnight rain, but not a tremendous amount, and are happy enough with conditions."

Gowran's card is due to commence at 1.05pm and will be the first meeting in Ireland since Saturday.

Tomorrow’s Fairyhouse meeting remains up in the air after today’s morning inspection deemed the course unfit for racing due to waterlogging.

A further inspection will take place at 7.30am tomorrow to see if racing can go ahead.
