Washington - A poll released yesterday by the Zogby International Institute shows Democratic presidential candidate, Mr Al Gore, increasing his lead to 5.4 percentage points over Republican rival Mr George W. Bush.

According to the poll of 1,001 eligible voters conducted from Monday to Wednesday, 45.6 per cent would vote for Mr Gore while 40.2 per cent would cast ballots for Mr Bush. That was a gain of more than two points for Mr Gore from a similar survey on August 21st.
