The new food magazine Food Illustrated comes from the stable which have produced the glamorous and very successful Gardens Illustrated magazine and, like its sister publication, Food Illustrated is handsome and stylishly designed, with lots of in-your-face photography, and a broad global scope of features which take in New York, London, Sydney, Santorini, La Paz, and Schull, West Cork, for a profile of the cheese-makers Tom and Giana Ferguson, who make Gubbeen Cheese. The magazine also concentrates a lot of tableware and design, and there is a feature on interior designer Kelly Hoppen, who says at one point: "I adore rice. I could live on rice . . . I think I was Tibetan Buddhist in my past life." Well it has been a long strange trip for some of us, that's for sure.
Food Illustrated is published monthly at £2.95 sterling.
