German industry output fell unexpectedly in December, depressed by a weather-related plunge in construction activity, the economy ministry said today.
Output sank by 1.5 per cent on the month in seasonally adjusted terms, dragged down by construction which slid 24.1 percent. Economists surveyed by Reuters had been expecting a 0.3 per cent rise in output.
"Industrial production was strongly influenced by the strong weather-related decline in construction output," the ministry said in a statement.
