Dozens of house windows were broken on Saturday on a quiet residential street in Dundrum, south Dublin, when a gas canister being used by road workers exploded.

The explosion, at Larchfield Place, occurred shortly after midday, and caused extensive damage to surrounding cars and homes. No one was injured, although an elderly woman was knocked over by the blast.
