Gardaí have appealed for the driver of a vehicle which was involved in a road accident near Mullingar, Co Westmeath, to come forward.
The crash occurred at 10pm yesterday at Greatdown, The Downs, and a car was found abandoned at the scene.
A 37-year-old man who had been walking along the Mullingar to Dublin road was killed in the accident.
Gardaí have appealed for the driver of the vehicle to come forward.
