Gardaí in Co Meath are hunting for a hit-and-run driver who left a man in a critical condition yesterday evening.

A man was hit by what gardaí believe was a small truck or a van as he was out walking on the at Normanstown on the N52 road between Kells and Navan at around 6.45 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop.

The man was brought to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan, where he is said to be in a critical condition.
