A man in his 40s has died following a fatal stabbing incident at an apartment complex in Cavan town last night.
The victim was stabbed in an apartment at Connolly Court, Connolly Street in the town shortly after 11pm.
The body remains at the scene and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified. A team from the Garda Technical Bureau is also expected to arrive at the scene later today.
Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in or around the apartment complex between 10pm and 12am last night to contact them at Cavan Garda station on 049-4368800, the Garda confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
