Gardaí have warned motorists travelling to Dublin tomorrow for the All-Ireland hurling final between Kilkenny and Cork to allow plenty of time for their journeys because of major roadworks on approaches to the city.
Bus Éireann and Iarnród Éireann have announced extra services to bring match-goers to and from the city. Buses will depart from Cork bus station, Parnell Place, at 7.30 a.m. and will return from Busaras, Store St, Dublin, at 6.30 p.m. Tickets are €25 and advance booking is essential.
An extra train service, aimed at picking up passengers from north Cork, will leave Limerick at 9.40 a.m., getting to Limerick Junction at 10.25 a.m., Thurles at 10.40 a.m., before arriving at Heuston at 12.15 p.m. The return service leaves Heuston at 7.45 p.m.
Iarnród Éireann has said tickets for all regular services from Cork and Limerick to Dublin on Sunday morning will be pre-sold, and people without a control card for regular services will not be able to travel.
Motorists travelling to Dublin on the M50 and inbound along the M1 should allow plenty of extra time for traffic delays due to the construction of the Dublin Port Tunnel.
Gardaí have advised that approach routes along the Navan Road (N3) or the Drumcondra Road (N1/M1) be used as these will take traffic directly to the car parks adjacent to Croke Park.
They have also advised those leaving Dublin after the game to take the M50 to avoid the Dublin Port Tunnel works.
