Gardai in Monaghan are investigating a serious sexual assault on a woman near Castleblaney.
The incident occurred as the woman was walking home on the Castleblaney to Doohamlet road at around 3am.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have seen the woman or a red car which is reported to have been acting suspiciously in the area at the time.
In particular gardai are also appealing to the occupants of a car which assisted her by taking her to Ballybay , Co Monaghan where she raised the alarm.
