Gardaí are investigating the discovery of the body of a newborn baby in Granard, Co Longford, yesterday.
It is believed the baby's mother is receiving treatment in hospital.
A Garda spokeswoman confirmed a postmortem had taken place last night but added that due to the sensitive nature of the incident, they are not releasing any further details.
In 1984, 15-year-old Ann Lovett died after giving birth alone at the Grotto of St Mary's Catholic church in Granard.
