Gardaí investigate break-in at Galway PD office

Gardaí in Galway are investigating a break-in at the constituency office of local Progressive Democrats TD Noel Grealish.

Gardaí in Galway are investigating a break-in at the constituency office of local Progressive Democrats TD Noel Grealish.

The break-in was discovered by Mr Grealish upon opening his office in Briarhill Business Park shortly after 7am.

A laptop computer and a monitor were taken in the raid, and several filing cabinets - some understood to be containing sensitive constituency documents - were disturbed.

A spokeswoman for Mr Grealish said they had not yet determined if any material from the filing cabinets was missing.

But she said it was unusual that other expensive technical items, including computers and digital cameras, were not taken.
