An investigation is currently underway in Waterford following the discovery of man's body in a house on a stud farm near Tramore.

The body of the man - believe to be in his 60s - was found some time after 2.30pm in a house in Carrigavantry. It is understood he had died a violent death.

A spokeswoman said gardaí were treating the death as suspicious. She said the house has been preserved for a forensic examination.

State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy is due to arrive at the scene later tonight.
