Gardai investigating the recent murders in Dundalk recovered two shotguns and an amount of ammunition last night, writes Elaine Keogh.

They believe the cache may be connected to the criminal gang with INLA links that was headed by Nicky O'Hare, the man shot dead in Dundalk on Saturday night and buried in Belfast yesterday.

The discovery was made around 9 p.m. during a Garda operation, and consisted of a sawn-off shotgun, a shotgun, a quantity of assorted ammunition including bullets, and a number of wigs. They had been concealed in a hedge in the Cox's Demesne area of the town. Gardai are also investigating whether this criminal gang was behind the murder last month of local publican Stephen Connolly.
