An unmarked garda van was set on fire near the force's Dublin headquarters on Tuesday night

An unmarked garda van was set on fire near the force's Dublin headquarters on Tuesday night. The fire was reported by the garda on duty at the gate of the Harcourt Street building. The van was parked opposite the headquarters on Hatch Street.

Initial investigations indicate arson there was a smell of petrol or paraffin, and a container which may have been used in the incident was found beside the van. The van was attached to the Garda's Central Detective Unit.
