The Garda have launched an investigation after a Lithuanian man in his late 20s died in a knife attack in Dublin early this morning.

A garda spokesman said the stabbing occured at around 12.15 a.m. in a flat at St Josephs Villas near the junction of Portland Row and Summerhill in the city.

The man was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was later prounounced dead. A post mortem examination is being carried out today.

Gardai are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a white Dihatsu Charade with an 88D registration which was seen in the area.
