Galway 0-15 Laois 1-09: Galway battled hard to defeat Laois in their opening Allianz NFL Division One league game at Pearse Stadium.
Although the Tribesmen failed to find the Laois net Michael Meehan was on form and his late points ensured a hard fought victory. All afternoon the two sides traded points and were level pegging on a number of occasions.
Brendan Quigley scored the first half goal for the visitors, but it was Liam Sammon's side who finished strongest to record the win.
