The newly elected national chairman of Fine Gael is Mr Padraig Conneely, a prominent member of the party, based in Galway

The newly elected national chairman of Fine Gael is Mr Padraig Conneely, a prominent member of the party, based in Galway. He is the longest-serving elected member of the National Executive Council and has worked with the party's national organisation at many levels, and in Galway West constituency.

The Fine Gael leader, Mr John Bruton, said Mr Conneely's experience in political and organisational matters would be of great benefit to the party.

As national chairman, he will be responsible for ensuring proper and efficient management control, government and administration of the party.
