Irish fresh fruit distributor Fyffes Plc said today its Internet subsidiary worldoffruit.com was scaling back its activities due to falling market interest in e-commerce projects.
The company said the online distribution project, set up in 1999, would continue to operate but on a significantly reduced scale , with costs and staff numbers cut accordingly.
Expenditure on the project was around euro 15 million in 2000, Fyffes said in a statement.
