The INTO was represented by its president, Mr Liam McCloskey, at the funeral of Mr Frank Cunningham, a former president of the organisation, in Ballinn, Co Mayo, yesterday. Mr Cunningham, who was 76, was president in 1981. The ASTI was represented by its general secretary, Mr Charlie Lennon, and the large attendance included the European Commissioner, Mr Padraic Flynn.
Mr Cunningham is survived by his wife, Grainne, and eleven children.
