The funeral took place yesterday of veteran journalist Mr James Hemmings (73), who died at his home at Crolly, Co Donegal, on Friday. A native Irish speaker, he worked as a journalist for the past 50 years and supplied news from Donegal and the islands, in particular Tory Island, to the national media including RTE, The Irish Times, Raidio na Gaeltachta and the BBC. He is survived by his wife, Mary, two sons and two daughters.
