LABOUR'S Brendan Howlin baffled a few in the Dail this week when he spoke of Charlie Haughey eating two memory-enhancing leaves a day. He came by this information, he told Quidnunc, among representations on the Department of Health's intention to make many alternative medicines prescription-only drugs. One group wrote claiming that in the 1970s CJH announced he had a ginko tree in his grounds and that he chewed two of its leaves every day to improve his memory. Howlin said his conclusion was that he must have stopped the chewing some time ago.
